During your regular programming courses, you learn a lot about 'the art of programming': recursion, pointers, the visitor or decorator pattern, you name it. However, to go from a simple programming assignment to true software development is quite a step. To develop real software applications (or libraries) that people can actually use requires using a wide variety of software development tools: package and dependency managers, build systems, testing frameworks, and static analysis tools. In this workshop, we will show you all sorts of tools that you may need to develop software (using components from others) and distribute it to others again. While we will use Python as the leading example (following a previous workshop), but the underlying concepts are not specific to any particular programming language - we will discuss tools in many popular languages.
