Are you interested in astronomy? Do you want to see a few of Jupiter's moons and a close-up of the craters on the Moon? Did you know there are a couple of (optical) telescopes on top of the Huygens building? Would you like to visit them?
If you answered yes to at least one of those questions, it's likely that this event might interest you! At the telescope tour, a couple of guides will lead you to to the domes and show you how a reflector telescope is operated, and you will get to see a few sky objects!
Since the dome cannot accommodate a lot of people at once, you will be split into three groups, each with a different starting time within the indicated time slot, i.e., you will not be there for the full 2.5 hours. The starting times for the three groups are: 19:00, 19:45 and 20:30 - please be at the Huygens pendulum (by the front entrance) 10 minutes in advance! Information about which group you are in was sent to your mail.
Please note that for astronomical observations, weather conditions are crucial and it is possible that we might not be able to actually observe anything beyond the Radboud logo on the Erasmus building. In that case, we will show you some previously taken pictures but you will still learn a lot about telescope operation, observations and the research they're used in. Also important: it is very cold in the domes, so please dress warmly!
