In honour of our new committee and in light of one of our pillars: Diversity, we present to you: The Imitation Game Movie Night!
The "Imitation Game" is a dramatic retelling of the life of Alan Turing, one of our famous forefathers of Computing Science. Turing is famously known for his code-breaking efforts for the Allies during World War II, and his pioneering work in the field of cryptography and the science of computing.
Turing was also a gay man in a time where homosexuality was strongly discriminated against, with a strong pressure to conform to the norm. Socially he had his difficulties, he liked routine and could work with high focus and passion, which were among the reasons that have led some to posthumously diagnose him with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The film shows how Turing navigated the difficulties of his time, being who he was, his tremendously important role in WWII (which is considered to have shortened the war by 2 to 4 years, saving millions of lives), and how he was treated by the British state.

After watching the movie, we will watch one or more video essays that will dive deeper into the movie's inclusivity themes on which we can discuss further. Food and snacks will be provided by us! Registering would be nice so we know how much food and and drinks to get. Hope to see you there!
