Computer chips are everywhere, and almost every single one of them will have passed an ASML lithography machine during its manufacturing. ASML, based in Veldhoven, makes chip-making machines of unparalleled precision and performance.
Seven years ago, Joost Vromen choose for ASML after completing his Masters’ degree in Computer Science. “I have enjoyed his time there ever since. With this talk,” Joost says, ”I’d like to share my practical insights based on my expertise as a computer scientist working together with many other engineering disciplines in a high tech environment.” Joost will explain the technologies that underpin ASML machines as well as the software that is involved. His talk touches on the context and business of ASML. “I hope to answer many questions from personal experience. I like to give students an insight in what it is like to try and push the boundaries of technology."
