Lunch Lecture Faculty of Science: Can pizza cure cancer?

Can pizza cure cancer? What sounds like a joke at first is maybe not too far from the truth. Silvano Gallus has been doing research on the association between various factors and the risk of cancer and his findings seem compelling: in Italy, regular pizza consumers significantly reduced the risk of selected digestive tract cancers. Of course with results like that, Silvano received a lot of attention and soon he also received the Ig-Nobel prize for medicine. But as playful as these results sound, we can draw important conclusions from this that might help in cancer prevention not only for Italy but worldwide. In this talk Silvano will explain his research, his findings and how the results could be of great importance in the field of cancer prevention. The talk will be easy to understand for everyone and will include different aspects from all different studies of the Faculty of Science (and also Artificial Intelligence), so no experience in medicine needed.
