Bitcoin and blockchain – A technical deep dive
2018 was the year in which the value of the Bitcoin fell, after gaining massive public interest in the years before. Blockchain technology was featured as the next big thing, by some thought to be as disruptive as the rise of the Internet. In this talk we will dive into the technical foundations of blockchain technology: How does it actually work? Is the technology capable of delivering on all advertised features? The goal is to understand what the real use cases could look like, and which modifications or trade-offs are required to serve other applications of the technology.
The talk will be delivered by Stijn Meijer, who graduated from this university’s computing science master last summer. He graduated at ING’s blockchain team and now works on the NFC payments feature of the ING (Android) app. During the presentation he will also sketch what it is like to work in these teams.
Come and enjoy this lecture with a beer or cola and some borrelnootjes!
